Tioman Island

 

Tioman Island is the largest of a group of 64 volcanic islands, the smallest of which is a mere rock jutting up from the sea. With a size of 38 kilometres long and 19 kilometres at its greatest width.

 

The natural beauty of Tioman was made famous in the Rodgers and Hammerstein film South Pacific.Local legends reveals that a beautiful dragon princess once flew from China to Singapore;on the way she stopped for a rest,and being pleased with the surroundings,turned herself into an island.

 

Pulau Tioman is a magnificient island in the sun, with good reefs for scubadiving and crystal-clear waters for swimming. Pulau Tioman is accessible by boat from Mersing town or Tanjung Gemuk, Rompin, a journey which takes about 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
